1. About Butch

Butch is an online marketplace that connects customers with local butcher shops. We facilitate order placement, payment processing, and delivery coordination. Butch acts solely as an intermediary platform and is not the seller of the meat products listed on the platform. The contract of sale for any product is directly between you (the customer) and the butcher shop partner. Your use of the Butch platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy and our Delivery Policy, both of which form part of these Terms & Conditions by reference.

2. Eligibility & Acceptance

By creating an account on Butch, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and are legally capable of entering into a binding contract under applicable Indian law. At account creation, you are asked to separately accept: (a) these Terms & Conditions together with our Privacy Policy, which is mandatory to create an account; and (b) an optional, unticked-by-default opt-in for marketing communications via WhatsApp and email. Placing an order on the platform is carried out under the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy you accepted at sign-up, and does not itself constitute a fresh or separate acceptance.

3. Orders & Cancellations

Once your order is confirmed and accepted by the butcher shop partner, it cannot be cancelled or modified. We encourage you to review your order carefully before confirming. Butch reserves the right to cancel an order if a butcher shop is unable to fulfil it, in which case you will be notified promptly.

4. Product Quality & Freshness

All meat products listed on Butch are supplied by independent butcher shop partners. Butch does not manufacture, inspect, or take ownership of any product at any point. Responsibility for the quality, freshness, and hygiene of products lies solely with the butcher shop partner. In the event you receive a product that does not meet acceptable quality standards, you may raise a complaint with us within 1 hour of delivery by contacting our support team with photographic evidence. At our discretion, we may offer store credit to the lower of:

• ₹200; or
• the billable value of the disputed item.

No cash refunds will be issued. Store credit will be provided within 2 business days of a verified complaint.

5. Payments

Butch currently accepts payments via UPI only. All transactions are processed securely through thirdparty payment gateways. Prices displayed are inclusive of applicable taxes. Once an order is placed and payment is processed, no refunds will be issued except as provided under Clause 4 above (store credit).Payment-related personal data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, including sharing with our payment gateway provider solely to complete your transaction.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Butch’s aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with your use of the platform shall not exceed the value of the order in dispute. Butch shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, revenue, or profit.

7. Modifications to Terms

Butch reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be posted on our website with a revised effective date. Continued use of the platform following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. Where an update materially changes how we process your personal data, we will seek fresh consent as described in our Privacy Policy, rather than relying solely on continued use.

8. Data Protection & Grievance Redressal

Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which sets out what we collect, how we use and share it, your rights as a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and how to withdraw consent or request erasure. Complaints or requests relating specifically to your personal data (such as access, correction, erasure, or consent withdrawal) should be directed to our Grievance Officer as named in the Privacy Policy, and are handled under that policy’s grievance and Data Protection Board escalation process — not under Clause 9 below, which governs disputes generally.

9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, save that complaints relating to personal data processing may first be raised with our Grievance Officer and, if unresolved, escalated to the Data Protection Board of India as described in our Privacy Policy.
